Doug is a seasoned venture capital investor, director and serial entrepreneur who, for 20 years, has invested in and advised growth companies in a variety of applications software, infrastructure software and business services markets. Doug founded Navigant Ventures, providing Board advisory services to a dozen early stage technology companies located in the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to Navigant, he managed institutional venture capital investments for TL Ventures, Apax Partners and Edison Ventures, where he was a Partner.
Throughout this period, Doug participated on the Boards of Directors of over twenty early stage and expansion stage technology companies and advised several dozen more in those portfolios around market entry and sales expansion with an emphasis on achieving scale and efficiency in those functions. Among these were CML Emergency Services, Fiberlink, Portico Systems, Princeton Softech, TrueCommerce, and WAM Systems, each of which delivered superior returns.
Before entering the venture capital business, Doug was a founder of On-Site Specialty Care and has held a variety of operational roles, including product marketing, product development, and corporate finance across United Technologies, AlliedSignal (Honeywell) and Dialogic (Intel). He is active in the entrepreneurial community with Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the Wharton School.
Doug holds a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
